Where are the Small Caps in OpenType fonts?
As the OpenType font format allows more characters inside a single font file, there is now no need to have separate fonts for oldstyle, tabular, and lining figures, ornaments or small capitals, when using an OpenType-savvy application such as Adobe InDesign, Illustrator or PhotoShop. Instead of selecting a different font, the user only needs to activate the appropriate application-based OpenType feature to control the advanced OpenType typography features.
For example, to access small capitals, go to the Character menu, and select Small Caps. Alternatively you can select the text and use a keyboard shortcut, Command+Shift+H. There is another way to apply Small Caps, if you want to restyle all-capitals seting inside your text — then go to the Character > OpenType > All Small Caps menu, which activates another set of small capitals inside the font, which also includes lowered quotation marks and custom question and exclamation marks to match the small capitals height.
