New book Typographic matchmaking

This book presents the documentation of the research, process and results of the collaboration between the Arab and Dutch designers calligraphers who have worked together to explore new possibilities of dual script typefaces. Five Latin fonts were selected and adapted in collaboration with their Arab colleagues to arrive at a fitting Arab version.

The design teams responsible for the fonts are: Gerard Unger and Nadine Chahine, Martin Majoor and Pascal Zoghbi, Lucas de Groot and Mounir Al Shaarani, Peter Bilak and Tarek Atrissi, Fred Smeijers and Lara Assouad Khoury. This project is an initiative of the Khatt Foundation, Center for Arabic Typography. It makes available to the Arab world a set of fonts that in richness and refinement meets international quality standards and can be applied in Arabic publications.

This book presents new, contemporary Arabic letter fonts, with a CD containing the free beta version of the fonts.
