New Logo for the Kunstmuseum Den Haag
The former Gemeentemuseum Den Haag has a new name, Kunstmuseum Den Haag, and a new logo designed by Typotheque.
Typotheque was asked to design the new logo of Kunstmuseum Den Haag, one of the most beloved and visited museums in the Netherlands.
The proportions of the new Kunstmuseum logo are based on the original brick by the prominent Dutch architect Hendrik Berlage, who designed both the brick and the museum building. Amsterdam agency KesselsKramer proposed using the brick for the new identity of the museum. Typotheque was asked to design the logo, and after reviewing the museum archive, selected Piet Zwart’s Nederlandsche Kabelfabriek poster with its unique ‘K’ as the starting point of the logo. After going through numerous versions with different typefaces, weights, and proportions, the final logo was developed for the museum’s identity.
The museum building was constructed between 1931–1935, designed by the Dutch architect H.P. Berlage.
