The work of Karel Martens is both personal and experimental. Known for decades as a prolific book designer, he later worked on other design projects: postage stamps, coins, architectural signage, and exhibitions. His latest work is more autonomous — experiments with colours, patterns and materials — exploring geometric and kinetic constructions. This is the four edition of the book originally published in 1996. While the first book included 146 pages, the second 170, the third 208, this edition has been extended to 280 pages, presenting in detail the latest work, and almost 60 years of the work of Karel Martens. As before, the book is designed by Jaap van Triest with Karel Martens.
