Design concept
Fedra Sans Devanagari is a Devanagari companion of Fedra Sans. Originally developed for visual identities, it works well on paper and computer screen. After two years in development, Fedra Hindi is Unicode compliant and comes in five weights with full support of conjuncts.

Most of layout applications such as QuarkXPress or Adobe InDesign don’t directly support complex Indic languages, and use of a third-party plugins (or templates) is required.

International Typography
Fedra Sans is Typotheque’s most extensive font. Besides the Latin, the font family supports also Armenian, Bengali, Cyrillic, Devanagari, Greek, Hebrew, Inuktitut, Tamil writing scripts, supporting over 2 billion native speakers.
Numerals
The Devanagari script is a Brahmi-derived writing system used originally to write Sanskrit. It is used in India and Nepal to write many languages, including the official language of the Indian government. Fedra Sans Devanagari is a dual script typeface supporting Latin and Devanagari. The typefaces comes with proportional lining figures as default for both scripts.
The Indian numeral system is commonly referred to in the West as the Hindu-Arabic numeral system or even Arabic numerals, since it reached Europe through the Arabs.

Fedra Sans Devanagari was designed between 2007 and 2009 by Peter Biľak and Satya Rajpurohit.
Fedra Hindi is a European Design 2009 winner and recipient of Excellence Merit at the HKDA Asia Awards 2009.
