This feature positions cursive characters so that the exit point of the current character matches with entry point of the following character. This allows achieving the slanted baseline, an important characteristic of Diwani script.
For an even more authentic calligraphic expression, Thuraya also offers a set of alternates mainly intended for titles. They involve mostly letters that connect vertically instead of horizontally.
To keep a harmonious calligraphic flow Thuraya includes 660 ligatures for every combination of the terminal forms of waw, waw hamza, feh, veh, qaf, yeh, alef maksura, alef maksura hamza, reh, zayn and jeh, with the initial and medial forms of all the other letters.
