Typotheque is a Netherlands-based type design company, world languages experts, developing modern and authentic fonts for the majority of languages. Since its foundation in 1999 Typotheque type foundry has been giving shape to language, pushing the boundaries of technology, designing for communication in a world that is increasingly digital, international and multicultural. For his contribution to the non-Latin typography, the founder of Typotheque, Peter Biľak was named a Game Changer by the US architectural magazine Metropolis. Typotheque’s work has been recognised by most professional associations, winning Dezeen Awards, Gold European Design Awards; Type Directors Club Certificate of Excellence; Tokyo TDC; Granshan Type Design Competition; The Society of Typographic Arts; AtypI’s Letter 2 competition, a collection of the best typefaces of the decade, and their fonts selected into Best typefaces of all times by FontShop.

In 2009 we introduced pioneering concepts in web fonts, being the first commercial type foundry to licence its entire type library for use on the web.

A cross section of Typotheque’s multidisciplinary work was on display at the Kunstmuseum Den Haag (formally the Gemeentemuseum), one of the most visited museums in the Netherlands, in its first typography exhibition of the museum history.
