Katakana


Katakana s a Japanese phonetic system used for transcription of loan words from foreign languages. There are 46 basic Katakana characters. Katakana is just one component of the Japanese writing system along with Hiragana (used for words of Japanese origin) , and Kanji (Chinese logographic characters). Katakana characters tend to be angular.
