Traditional Chinese characters first appeared during the Han Dynasty, and have been more or less stable since the 5th century. They don't contain newly characters or character simplification performed after 1946. Traditional Chinese characters are currently used in Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and overseas communities.
