Helfand is the author of Six (+2) Essays on Design and New Media; Paul Rand: American Modernist; Screen: Essays on Graphic Design, New Media, and Visual Culture; and Reinventing the Wheel. She is a Senior Critic in graphic design at Yale University School of Art, and the co-editor of Design Observer.
