• Hitesh Malaviya
    Hitesh Malaviya (Rocky) is a type and graphic designer from India. He was trained under a sign painter as a high-school student and later went to the Faculty of Fine Arts, MS University, Baroda, to study design. He started his career as an art director in an advertising agency. After working for five years at Wieden+Kennedy, he left advertising to pursue his love for letters. In 2014, he joined Indian Type Foundry as a type designer, where he worked on Latin and South Asian scripts, including Devanagari, Gujarati, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil and Thai. In 2019, he started working with Universal Thirst as a consultant, producing multiple typefaces for various Indic scripts. Since 2022, he has been working independently, collaborating with numerous type foundries across the globe. Two of his projects won the Certificate of Excellence from The New York Type Directors Club in 2023. Apart from his practice, he teaches type design at several design schools in India.
