മനുഷ്യന്റെ വീക്ഷണത്തിൽ ഭൂമിയെ അതിലെ മനുഷ്യൻ വാസമുറപ്പിച്ച പ്രദേശം എന്ന നിലയിൽ സുചിപ്പിക്കുവാനാണ്‌ ലോകം എന്ന പദം ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നത്. ഇതിൽ മനുഷ്യന്റെ അനുഭവങ്ങളും ചരിത്രവും ഉൾപ്പെടെ എല്ലാം ഉൾക്കൊള്ളുന്നു. “ലോക്യതെ ഇതി ലോക” കാണപ്പെടുന്നതാണ് ലോകം. അതായത് ഒരാൾക്ക്‌ അനുഭവത്തിൽ വരുന്നതിനെ അയാളുടെ ലോകമായി കണക്കാക്കിയാൽ ഈരേഴുപതിനാല് പതിനാല് ലോകം എന്നതിന് അനവധി അനുഭവലോകങ്ങൾ എന്ന് അർത്ഥമെടുക്കാം. ഭൗതികമായി നിലനിൽക്കുന്ന എല്ലാം ചേർന്നതാണ് പ്രപഞ്ചം. സമ്പൂർണമായ സ്ഥലവും സമയവും, എല്ലാ രൂപത്തിലുമുള്ള ദ്രവ്യവും, ഊർജ്ജവും ഗതിയും, ഭൗതിക നിയമങ്ങളും അവയുടെ അളവുകളുമെല്ലാം ഇതിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു. എന്നാൽ ലോകം, പ്രകൃതി എന്നീ അർത്ഥങ്ങളിലും പ്രപഞ്ചം എന്ന പദം ഉപയോഗിക്കാറുണ്ട്. പ്രപഞ്ചം എങ്ങനെയുണ്ടായി എന്നും എന്നുണ്ടായി എന്നുമുള്ള ചോദ്യങ്ങൾ തുടങ്ങിയിട്ട് കാലം കുറേയായി. പ്രപഞ്ചോൽപ്പത്തിയെ വിശദീകരിക്കാൻ ശ്രമിക്കുന്ന പല സിദ്ധാന്തങ്ങളുണ്ട്. അതിലൊന്നാണ് മഹാവിസ്ഫോടന സിദ്ധാന്തം(big bang theory). മഹാവിസ്ഫോടന സിദ്ധാന്ത പ്രകാരം ആയിരത്തിയഞ്ഞൂറ്കോടി വർഷങ്ങൾക്ക് പുറകിലേക്ക് നാം നോക്കുകയാണ് എങ്കിൽ അന്ന് ആദിമ പ്രപഞ്ചം തുടക്കാവസ്ഥയിലേക്ക് ചുരുങ്ങിയിരിക്കണം. ആ യുഗനാന്ദിയിൽ അതിഭയങ്കരമായ ഒരു പൊട്ടിത്തെറി നടന്നിരിക്കണം. ദ്രവ്യം സ്ഫോടനം വഴി നിലവിൽ വരികയും അകന്നു തുടങ്ങുകയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കണം. അൽപ്പം കൂടി ചുഴിഞ്ഞ് നോക്കാം നമുക്കത്. എന്താണ് പൊട്ടിത്തെറിച്ചത്? അത്യുഗ്രഘനമുള്ള ഒരു ദ്രവ്യ പിണ്ഡം. അതു പൊട്ടിത്തെറിച്ചാൽ ചുട്ടുപഴുത്ത ദ്രവ്യം ചുറ്റിലേക്കും തെറിക്കും. വൻ പ്രവേഗത്തിൽ ഈ ദ്രവ്യ കണങ്ങൾ അകന്നകന്നു പോകും. അതിയായ ചൂടുനിമിത്തം വ്യത്യസ്ത മൂലകങ്ങൾ രൂപപ്പെടുവാനുള്ള സാഹചര്യങ്ങളുണ്ടായി എന്നും അനുമാനിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. തുടക്കത്തിലുള്ള അത്യുന്നതമായ താപനില അതിൽ നിന്ന് വികിരണങ്ങൾ ഉത്സർജിക്കപ്പെടുന്നതുകൊണ്ട് ക്രമേണകുറഞ്ഞുവരുന്നു. പ്രത്യേക സമ്മർദ്ദങ്ങളുടെ ഫലമായി ചില ഭാഗങ്ങളിൽ കണങ്ങൾ കൂട്ടം കൂടി, അവ നെബുലകളായി, നക്ഷത്രങ്ങളായി. ഗ്യലക്സികളായി മാറുന്നു. മഹാസ്ഫോടനത്തെ തുടർന്ന് ദ്രവ്യകണങ്ങൾ ചുറ്റിലേക്കും ചിതറിയില്ലേ. ഗ്യാലക്സികൾ അകന്നു പോകുന്നതായി ഇന്നും നമുക്ക് കാണാൻ കഴിയുന്നത് മഹാസ്ഫോടന സമയത്ത് കണങ്ങൾക്ക് കിട്ടിയ പ്രവേഗത്താലാണത്രെ!! മഹാസ്ഫോടനം നടന്നിട്ടുണ്ടെങ്കിൽ പ്രപഞ്ചത്തിന്റെ ഏതു ദിക്കിൽ നിന്നും സ്ഫോടനത്തിന്റെ അവശിഷ്ടമായി ഏകദേശം 3kതാപനില സൂചിപ്പിക്കുന്ന താപനില കണ്ടെത്താൻ കഴിയണം. ഇത്തരം വികിരണം 1965ൽ കണ്ടെത്തുകയും ചെയ്തതോടെ മഹാ വിസ്ഫോടന സിദ്ധാന്തത്തിന് ശക്തമായ ഒരു അടിത്തറ ലഭിച്ചു. മഹാവിസ്ഫോടനസിദ്ധാന്തത്തിന്റെ ഏറ്റവും പ്രബലമായ തെളിവായി ഇത് ചൂണ്ടി കാണിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. 1948 ൽ മൂന്ന് ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞൻമാർ ഉന്നയിച്ച‌താണ് രണ്ടാമത്തെ സിദ്ധാന്തം. സ്ഥിരസ്ഥിതി സിദ്ധാന്തം എന്നാണതിന്റെ പേര്. (steady state theory). ഈ സിദ്ധാന്ത പ്രകാരം പ്രപഞ്ചത്തിന് സമയാനുസ്രതമായിമാറ്റമില്ല. അതായത് ഇന്ന് കാണുന്ന പ്രപഞ്ചം എന്നും ഇതു പോലെ തന്നെയായിരുന്നു. ഇനി എന്നും ഇതു പോലെതന്നെയായിരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും. കോടിക്കണക്കിന് പ്രകാശവർഷം അകലെ നിന്ന് നിരീക്ഷിച്ചാലും ഈ പ്രപഞ്ചം ഇങ്ങനെ തന്നെയായിരിക്കും അതായത് ഈ പ്രപഞ്ചത്തിന് ആദിയും അന്തവുമില്ല, തുടക്കവും ഒടുക്കവുമില്ല.

October is a highly functional typeface for complex information display, and has distinct and unambiguous lettershapes that aid legibility and a soft and friendly character that makes the presented information appealing and emotionally accessible to a wide public.

October is part of Typotheque’s <a href="https://www.typotheque.com/fonts/global">Global Font collection</a> supporting hundreds of languages and various writing scripts. In the long term, it is intended that October will support all living languages with a community of active speakers. Currently, October supports the following writing scripts: Arabic, Armenian, Bangla, Canadian Syllabic, Cyrillic, Devanagari, Georgian, Greek, Gujarati, Gurmukhi, Hebrew, IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet), Kannada, Latin, Malayalam, Odia, Ol Chiki, Tamil, Telugu, and Thai. We are working on extending the language to other writing scripts, including Chinese. This makes October an unprecedented design project.

October is available in three logical widths, which offer a complete typographic palette for the most demanding designers. The condensed and compressed versions solve the problem of setting long words and sentences next to short words set in the regular width version of October. A variable font version allows you to choose any width in between.

October also supports the IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet), featuring a comprehensive repertoire of glyphs for the transcription of linguistic data. The font also covers First Nations roman orthographies of Indigenous languages spoken in Canada (Wakashan, Algonquian, Salishan, Tsimshianic, Iroquoian, and Eskaleut languages) and, additionally, it covers African Indigenous roman orthographies for languages such as Hausa, Igbo, Akan, Kabiye, Ewe, etc. The IPA support is embedded inside the Latin fonts and every other language version, so you don’t need a separate licence for it.

Each weight of October Compressed includes nine different kinds of numerals. Proportional lining figures come as default figures in October Compressed. It also, however, includes old-style figures, tabular numerals (both lining and old-style), small caps numerals, superior, inferior, circled and circled inverted numerals. For running text, old-style figures work best; for use in capital setting, use lining figures, and with the small caps, choose the specially designed Small Caps numerals applicable via OpenType layout features. When you take a licence for this font, you can choose your own default numeral variant.

The November Type system consists of ten font families, each available in nine weights, and countless language versions. It all started with <a href="https://www.typotheque.com/fonts/november">November</a>, a rational, utilitarian typeface inspired by street signs, and it continued with <a href="https://www.typotheque.com/fonts/october">October</a>, a soft and rounded typeface, each available in three logical widths. <a href="https://www.typotheque.com/fonts/november_slab">November Slab</a> is a robust slab serif version that works well in headlines and shorter text, and finally there is <a href="https://www.typotheque.com/fonts/november_stencil/">November Stencil</a>, useful for large text and display, and providing opportunities to work with chromatic typography.
