Gold European Design Award for Ping

The 13th European Design Awards ceremony was hosted in Warsaw, on Saturday the 8th of June, 2019 awarding and promoting the best in European communication design presented for outstanding work in the communication design field.

European Design Awards 2019

Typotheque’s Ping, a whole-world typeface, received the Gold Award, and we congratulate the entire team behind the project. Ping was designed by Peter Biľak, who created the Latin, Greek, Cyrillic and Armenian versions, assisted by Nikola Djurek. Daniel Grumer designed the Hebrew version, Parimal Parmar designed the Devanagari, Kristyan Sarkis designed the Arabic version. Bahman Eslami and Rafał Buchner provided technical assistance, and Khajag Apelian and Gor Jihanian consultations for the Armenian. Arphic Technology provided the Chinese, Japanese and Korean typeface modified to match Ping’s proportions.

European Design Awards was organised together with the Element Talks Conference, and Peter Biľak spoke to over 2,000 participants of the conference about the Ping project.

The ED-Awards is a joint initiative of design magazines from across Europe and endorsed by the International Council of Graphic Design Associations. The ED-Awards are judged by a panel of representatives from fifteen European design magazines.
