Oli: a neo-grotesque with irrepressible personality and charming details
Although the neo-grotesque genre tends toward cold, neutral typefaces, Oli’s charming details glow with unreserved personality at large and small sizes alike, injecting a strong visual character into the text.
Oli is the creation of Indian designer Shiva Nallaperumal and has ambitious plans to support all the writing scripts of India (Devanagari, Bangla, Gujarati, Gurmukhi, Urdu, Oriya, Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada) in the same wide range of weights as its Latin fonts, making it a truly unprecedented typeface project. The first expansion, Oli Grotesk Devanagari, is coming later in 2019, and other scripts will follow. The Indic versions of Oli are being designed by Arya Purohit.
