Legible Fonts for Long, Continuous Text
Body copy is usually set in a relatively small size, between 8 and 11 points in print. Text fonts are generously spaced, with plenty of white space inside and around the letters. In general, serif fonts are preferred for lengthy text in books and newspapers. However, there are also a number of sans serif fonts that are suitable for continuous text, so explore both options before making a decision. Typically, fonts with high x-height perform well in small sizes.
