Typotheque Solo Exhibition at the Kunstmuseum Den Haag
When it comes to exhibitions, we have attended many, organised and curated a few, and even designed some, but our work has not yet been the subject of a solo exhibition in a major art museum. Until now. The former Gemeentemuseum Den Haag has a new name, Kunstmuseum Den Haag, and a new logo designed by Typotheque. The museum has also adopted the Ping typeface family for its overall visual identity.
Museum director Benno Tempel asked Typotheque to present not only the process of designing the new logo, but also a selection of other projects from our first two decades. The exhibition Typotheque — What You Hear When You Read presents the studio’s work in type design, graphic design, editorial design, publishing, scenography and modern dance.
On the occasion of the exhibition a bilingual exhibition catalogue with a retrospective essay by Jan Middendorp and a selection of projects both old and new has been published, and is available in hardcopy and online.
The exhibition continues through November 3; the museum is open daily from 10:00am to 5:00pm (except Mondays). Give us a sign if you are planning to visit the exhibition; Johanna and/or Peter may be able to give you a private guided tour.
