Small x-height fonts
Typefaces with a small x-height are rooted in the Renaissance era, and many of the humanist and old style typefaces have long ascenders and descenders, and short x-height. This provides more space between the lines of text and gives an airier appearance, resulting in a more elegant and even antique look to the text, as well as requiring less space between the lines.
